Latham - Gregory Robert Luther, 44, passed away unexpectedly while hiking in The Adirondacks on Saturday June 25, 2022. Born and raised in Latham he is the son of Robert P. and the late Patricia A. (Griffin) Luther.


Greg was a lover of the outdoors from a young age and was an Eagle Scout with Troop 62 in Latham. He went on to graduate from Shaker High School Class of 1996. Greg was a certified E.M.T., volunteered with The Latham Fire Dept. and most recently was employed by Market Bistro in Latham. He was an all around handyman who could fix just about anything. Greg will be remembered by all who knew him as a quiet gentle giant who loved children and spending time with his family.


Greg is survived by his father, Robert P. Luther; his sister, Aimee Luther Richardson; his niece, Grace Richardson; his nephews, Benjamin Richardson and Ryan Richardson; his long-time girlfriend, Shari A. Hempstead and her children, Brittany (Patrick) Wallace, Justin McBain and Marisa Hempstead; and her six grandchildren.

He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Greg was predeceased by his mother Patricia A. Griffin in 2019.


Greg hated flowers and loved puppies, so in keeping with his wishes memorial contributions can be made to The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society at MohawkHumane.org


Funeral services for Greg will be held on Saturday July 2nd at 10:30 am at The St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 129 Old Loudon Rd. in Latham.
