Please share a memory of Jeanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Frances "Jeanne" McElligott, 88, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025 and is reunited with her beloved husband of 68 years, John "Red" McElligott. Born in Cohoes, New York, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Alfred and Ida (St. Hilaire) Nadeau. Jeanne is survived by her daughter Susan (Douglas) Stevens; her sons, John (Kristine) McElligott, Thomas (Ann-Marie) McElligott, David McElligott, and Matthew (Kelly) McElligott; her grandchildren, Andrew Owens, Elissa (Bill) Lentsch, Kelly (Mike) Johnston, Adam Stevens, Jed (Janet Marchaland) McElligott, Michael (LeeAnne) McElligott, Lauren McElligott, Allison McElligott, Meghan McElligott, Brooke Bourgault and Brealynn Bourgault; great grandchildren, Keegan McElligott, Rylee Lentsch, and Dylan Lentsch; and brothers, Marcel Nadeau (Laurie) and Rich Nadeau (Rosemary). She is predeceased by her siblings: Robert Nadeau and Irene Belanger. Jeanne was a lifelong resident of the Capital District area and was very proud of her French Canadian heritage. She attended St. Joseph's in Cohoes with her siblings and cousins where they spoke English in the morning classes and French in the afternoon classes. She graduated from Waterford high school and went on to Beauty school. Jeanne met her husband, John through mutual friends. John and "Frenchy", as he lovingly referred to her, married in 1957 and had five children: Susan, John, Thomas, David and Matt. Jeanne enjoyed traveling with John, family and friends. She loved summers at Cape Cod, Lake George and especially Burden Lake with her children and grandchildren. Jeanne was an avid sports fan: baseball, football, tennis, and golf were her favorites. She was a lifelong Yankee fan and instilled that fan loyalty to her children who have wonderful childhood memories of listening to the Yankees on the radio and eating ice cream floats with Jeanne. She regularly won the office golf and football pools. Jeanne played bridge and was in many bowling leagues; although she enjoyed these hobbies - the draw was getting together with her girlfriends on a weekly basis. In addition, Jeanne loved to play golf and was a member of Battenkill Country Club in Greenwich NY. Above all, Jeanne was the matriarch of the family. She was a loving, supportive, dedicated Mother to her adored children. She was a wonderful grandmother and was a fixture at school and sporting events. She had a distinctive laugh that showed her joy and enjoyment of life. She once ran out of the kitchen, with her apron on, to jump on the back of the snowmobile with her kids. All friends were welcomed with open arms - when you walked in her house you were family. Jeanne was always up for lunch or dinner with her children and, when asked to go out, would respond with her trademark "cool cool". Her faith, kindness, and compassion will live on through her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jeanne on Tuesday, June 3, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Avenue, Troy. Entombment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 2, from 4 - 7p.m. at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet.
